The Middle East is an area where cars and truck is king and fuel is low-cost, often leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have pushed up the cost of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered .

In a region that has one of the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It’s established the Middle East’s first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s proving lucrative too, currently their client-list includes McDonald’s.
